Cooley Peninsula Greenway
By John McE Searching for Greenways on the Cooley Peninsula I had the pleasure of riding on the Cooley Peninsula Greenway recently, a few days prior to the official opening of the latest section. The only dampener was, well, the damp, as the weather was atrocious on the day with strong winds and monsoon-style rain. Nonetheless, it’s a brilliant area, with beautiful routes, and I’m keen to explore further. My journey started at Strandfield House , possibly the best café in

McGinty Autumn Classic
The inaugural McGinty Autumn Classic took place on Sunday in what can only be described as shocking conditions. Riders endured some of the worst rain and wind many had ever experienced, making for an exceptionally tough day in the saddle. The event, organised by Danny Conroy and his team at Bray Wheelers, was billed as Ireland’s richest race – and it did not disappoint. Orwell Wheelers were well represented across the categories. In the C2 race, Matthew Lynch lined up for h

The organisers delivered an excellent event on a challenging course, with tough weather conditions making the racing all the more attritional. Despite the demands of the day, Orwell came away with some outstanding results: Claire Diffley continued her preparations for the Rás with a superb ride, finishing 2nd place after an aggressive race.

Masters Road Championships 2025
Yvonne Doran Does the Double Orwell Wheelers’ Yvonne Doran once again stamped her authority on the national stage, claiming the Masters 40 Irish Road Race title at the National Masters Road Race Championships in Co. Monaghan. The opening laps saw the peloton steadily reduced as the pace and testing circuit took its toll. The decisive move came midway through the final lap when a two-rider breakaway went clear, featuring Doran and Breda Murphy (Carlow RCC). Working well togeth

Tour de Beast - 2026
420 years ago, St. Garabaldi jogged up 69 peaks, and returned with the Strava Route on Stone Tablets. Every year, we ride The Beast to reflect upon his guidance. The final In-Forum-al spin of the year is the Tour de Beast. The Tour de Beast is to celebrate the end of the Summer. In years gone by, we used to have a group dinner to celebrate, hence what the WhatsApp Group is for. So if anyone wants to organise the dinner, that'd be nice. The route is the start of the Randonée.

12 Peaks - 2026
It's that time of the year again, where we cycle to see if Turlough Hill and Wicklow Gap count as one or two hills. The 12 Peaks is generally the last big hitout for any cyclists hoping to do a foreign sportive or raid. As such the date can be moved to suit groups training plans. It can even occur more than once, should there be more than one group trip. Apart from cycling, it's important to nail your pacing, equipment and nutrition. All are invited. Everyone will be going at
