Appleby Orwell Women’s League – Round 4 Race Report
Round 4 of the Appleby Orwell Women’s League brought another evening of competitive racing, with riders tackling a fast-paced circuit and no shortage of attacking intent throughout both events. The racing was aggressive from the outset, with strong efforts across the field and plenty of close battles right to the line.
In the B Race, the pace stayed high throughout as riders fought hard for position on every lap. Consistency and determination proved crucial on the testing course, with the race remaining tightly contested all the way to the finish. Stephanie Talbot produced another impressive ride to take the victory, ahead of Aoibhe Reilly in second and Lucy Moran in third. Gillian McMahon finished strongly for fourth, followed by Marie Diggin and Pam Grogan after another excellent showing from the group.
The A Race delivered another thrilling contest, with repeated accelerations stretching the field and keeping the pressure on throughout. Riders had to stay alert and well positioned as the pace rarely eased. In the closing stages, Ellen Ní Chléirigh showed her strength once again to take the win, with Jennifer Caverly securing second place and Amy Wall rounding out the podium. Susie Mitchell claimed fourth, followed by Holly McCaffrey and Carmel Moran after a hard-fought race.
A sincere thank you once again to the timekeepers, marshals, and volunteers whose work behind the scenes keeps the league running so successfully each week. Their support and commitment are greatly appreciated by all the riders.
