National Hill Climb Championships 2025 – UCD CC On Sunday, Orwell Wheelers were well represented at the National Hill Climb Championships, hosted by UCD Cycling Club on our doorstep in the Wicklow Mountains. Unfortunately, Luke Keaney was unable to attend as severe weather disrupted travel plans on the morning of the event. Today is the tenth anniversary of the death of our beloved clubmate Pat O'Brien, a man of the Rás, winner of multiple club championships, and one of the nicest guys you could meet. Every year we honour his memory by presenting the Pat O'Brien trophy to the best all-rounder across all time trial events in the club. Pictured here is this year's winner Cesar Lopes.

Three Orwell riders – Dan McElroy, Martin Holmes, and Orla Hendron – lined up yesterday at the Irish Masters Open Track Championships, proudly representing the club across multiple categories. The inaugural McGinty Autumn Classic took place on Sunday in what can only be described as shocking conditions. Riders endured some of the worst rain and wind many had ever experienced, making for an exceptionally tough day in the saddle. The IVCA raced on Sun 7th Sep in the Kevin Simms Memorial Races, with the trophy generously provided by Ronan and his family. It was another fantastic day for Orwell Wheelers, as Diarmuid Collins continued his superb run of form by taking a big win in the M50s race.
