Final Report for the Appleby Orwell Women's League 2026

Two weeks since the Appleby Orwell Women's League 2026 came to its conclusion with the now famous Pine Forrest TT.  The rain gods were kind to us with only a sprinkling of rain but a stronger head wind meant while times were good only one rider went faster than their first round. 

Over the past few weeks we have seen new talent emerging, riders growing in confidence and many women who started as beginners becoming stronger, more motivated and competitive with every race.   The introduction of the road race combined  with the Leinster Inter Club league proved a great success.  

This league does not happen without the support and help of the many people who give up their evenings to take times, stop traffic, take videos and gather results not to mention write reports and take photos.  So a big Thank you to you all it really is very much appreciated.

We would like to thank all the women who took part in this years league that created such a supportive and inspiring atmosphere throughout the series.  We hope to see even more women joining the Summer series in Corkagh Park starting Tue June 9^th  and continuing to grow women's cycling together. 

Due to a technical hitch on the night of the Prize giving the most Improved was not announced and the Best Newcomer.  So our Best Newcomer with two very strong riders in contention between Amy Wall and Jennifer Caverly.  With both riders backing up their impressive time trials with skills and grit to mix it strongly with the A riders.  The award goes to Jennifer Caverly proving to be a very strong Newbie and definitely one to watch in the future.  Our most improved goes to a Very impressive Stephanie Talbot who was the only rider to improve on her time from the first TT to the Second one and also preformed well in the Crits in Corkagh Park.  So Stephanie is awarded Most Improved.
