Great results for Orwell keep coming in! This week it was time for the National Series round 5 in Currow, Co Kerry (130km in 22 degree heat), and the Bob Crilly Classic near Belfast.

From kids (and adults!) in Limerick to mountain biking in Killarney and the fourth round of the National Series in Navan, it was a huge weekend for Orwell Wheelers racers.

5 weeks have flown by and the final round of the Appleby Orwell Womens league will take place this coming Tuesday the 23rd of May! We will return to Batterstown for a repeat of the round 1 course which gives everyone a chance to see how much they have improved. Full details and standings going into the final round below….

There was a lot of ??Orwell green on show on the ??Leinster Youths TT and Road Race champs podiums last weekend, hosted by Cuchulainn CC in Co Louth! Congratulations to all our youth title holders and medal winners!! ????

A race report from a very successful two days of youth racing down in Kanturk, by Issy Huele.

Pinergy – Orwell Wheelers is proud to announce a strong team for Rás Tailteann. Padraic O’Flynn, Cahir O’Higgins, Mark McKinley, Loughlin Campion, and Aimhirgin O Brannagain will compete over five gruelling stages of this year’s race.

A very strong weekend for Orwell racers, with trophis, placings and jerseys to go around. Results below from Sean Lynch, Ken Duff and Women’s Intermediate League.

With 4 stages over three days in the wilds of North Cork, the Kanturk 3 Day is one of the leading stage races for A2 and A3 riders in Ireland. The Orwell team of three juniors (Joe-Nathan Matar, David Harrington and Killian O’Brien) and one seasoned … non-junior (Cahir O’Higgins) had a roller-coaster ride.

Our annual One Day Youth Stage races took place on Saturday 6 May 2023 in Corkagh Park. A fantastic day out for nearly 80 kids, and some fast and furious racing. The results are here …

Finishing 3rd overall in the Ras na nOg was a huge confidence booster for me after crashing and breaking my collarbone last winter. Seeing the trophies was a delight on the final day and made me look forward to the presentation. As I stood on the podium on the final day, I felt so proud as it was my first time and I was so delighted to come home with my trophies and so many amazing memories.

14 Orwell Wheelers youths were in Bellewstown for Rás na nÓg, the start of the youth racing season. Super racing, great fun and some strong results for our super boys and girls. Here’s Aideen’s full race report.

Some very strong Orwell performances and lots of learning at the Gorey Three Day this weekend, and lots of experience gained by our (mainly) young squad. With four stages over three days and almost 150 riders, Gorey is a fantastic stage race for A2, A3 and Junior riders, as well as having a strong ladies field.
