Brian and Cora McNamara Memorial in Tuam, Co Galway

Orwell Wheelers featured prominently in the decisive breakaway at the Brian & Cora McNamara Memorial in Tuam, with Padraig Moran taking an impressive 4th place after an aggressive day's racing.

On a challenging 120km course promoted by Tuam Cycling Club, the decisive move formed just 10 minutes into the race as an elite eight-rider group broke clear of the field. Orwell was strongly represented, with Padraig Moran and Joe-Nathan Matar making the selection alongside four riders from Burren CC, Matthew Walls (APS Pro Cycling by Team Cadence Cyclery) and Bren Broekaart (Tuam Cycling Club).

The breakaway worked together for much of the race before Burren CC used their numerical advantage to animate the closing laps. Daire Feeley attacked with around 30km remaining to take a solo victory, while his teammates Ruairí Woods and Paul Kennedy completed a Burren clean sweep of the podium.

Despite being outnumbered in the final, Padraig Moran rode strongly to finish 4th, the best-placed rider outside the Burren trio. Joe-Nathan Matar was also part of the decisive move for much of the race before the attacks split the group, while Seán O'Kane finished 8th, giving Orwell two riders in the top eight after another aggressive team performance.

Matthew Lane had a massive ride taking 2nd in the C2 race and is now promoted to C1.
