Appleby Orwell Women’s League 2019: R6 & Final Results

The Appleby Orwell Women’s League 2019 came to a close tonight with the final TT round. 83 women raced in at least one round of the league! The final round write up will be posted later this week but until then here are the final round TT  and the overall league results.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Appleby Orwell Women’s League this year. We had 83 women race in at least one or more race – that’s an increase of 19 on last year!

On behalf of Orla, Yvonne and myself we would like to thank everyone involved in making the league such a success. We don’t normally like to single out people but there are a few went above and beyond deserve a word of thanks.

We had several members who marshaled more than one time – Barry Mooney, Fergal O’Sullivan, John Wade, Anne Van Den Anker and Luke GJ Potter who was on hand at least 4 times and who put together the finish line videos each week.

Denis Gleeson got dragged into helping out for 5 of the nights and during the days too when he would regularly raid the container for flags, hi vis, tables, flasks etc… We are very very grateful for his help!

Huge thanks to Dave Mc and Gen Sheridan who are masters of the TT and the dark art of time keeping.

Our Photographers John Hammer, Brendan Culleton and Matthew Lysaght who are always ready with the camera and a zoom lens when needed. John also diversified into report writing again this year for us. John and Lorna Reilly will be running the summer league in Corkagh Park so remember to get out there and support it for them!

Top of the thanks list however is Appleby Jewelers and Nicholas Appleby who very generously stepped in to support the league and came back again this year!
