For the much-delayed final review of the year, we’ve listed all the championship and medal-winning results from the club – provincial, national and world titles. We do apologise for the delay, but one-handed typing is very little fun!
It was a standout year for the women of Orwell, with Naoise Sheridan taking two golds at the National Youth Track Champs, and competing strongly at the road events in Limerick in August. Isabel Cogan, not sated by her Boyne GP win, took a superb top ten spot at the Elite Women’s National Road Race Champs, with Rachel Glendon also featuring in the TT event.
Cogan also succeeded Glendon in the Leinster Hill Climb Champs, retrieving the women’s title for the club, while Aidan Collins took gold in the A2 category.
Orla Hendron showed that class never fades, riding strongly on the track to take two medals at the Leinster Track Champs, before doing the very same at the UCI Track Cycling Masters World Championships in Manchester – missing out on a World Champion jersey by the slimmest of margins. Fionn Sheridan matched Hendron’s haul at the Leinsters, and also medalled at the Nationals.
Former members were as excellent as ever, Lydia Boylan (riding unattached) just missing out on a medal at the Nationals, while Anne Dalton represented the country at the UCI Paracycling World Cup and took home a well-deserved bronze medal.
Enjoy the below, and apologies if we’ve missed anyone – it’s scraped together from several sources, and omissions are likely.
