The young and the restless
A couple of great results from the younger ranks in the last few weeks – Conor Murnane earned the unplaced Junior prize in Clonard two weeks ago, followed by Ciarán Keogh’s fantastic 4ths in two rounds of the U16 MTB Blitz. Yesterday both Andrew Ryan and Sean Murnane featured in their respective races in the Des Hanlon!

Blair and Brendan both beat big bunches
Further along the age categories the seniors have been holding their own, with several big results in the last ten days. The A4s have enjoyed a great week’s racing. Earlier last week, in the Boyne GP and St Patrick’s Day race, Garry Blair and Brendan Lawless scored two smashing A4 victories, and Paul Kane took 4th in the latter. Lawless then earned his A3 upgrade with 3rd at the Des Hanlon, while Neal Hudson took an unplaced A2 prize. There were also two Orwells in the top te

Dave Mc’s audacious audaxing Orwells
When Dave Mc suggested running a 200km audax in March, he didn’t expect quite so many Orwell members to be eager to flay themselves so early in the year. 32 members signed on, including the ever-prolific Billy Parker, who provides us with an excellent account of the day below!

Audax: Midlands 300
Following on from the Orwell 200 the next in the series is the Midlands 300, in 3 weeks time. There was a good bit of interest in this at the finish yesterday, and Dave had a handful of entries in already so it is likely to be another big field. For most people completing a 200 will be as far as they will ever hope to go in a day, but for the few who are tempted to try go one step further there will probably be no better opportunity to give it a go. Details are below.

Well wrapped women suffer snowy start
There’s a touch of déjà vu about the results this weekend, with both Conor Murnane and Chris Mollaghan taking the only Orwell placings. That did wonders for their ranking points, with Murnane topping the Juniors for a day, and Mollaghan making his way into A3. The snow in Navan was the only thing on people’s minds though, with five Orwell women making their débuts in the cold! Read on to see how they fared!
