After Orwell’s exploits in Cong for the National A3 Championships, the remnants of the Cong 7 reunited for a last ditch assault on the Charleville 2 Day. Jamie Busher tells us how it went below!

First-year Orwellians Stephen Heary, David Cahill and Kevin Sammon all completed the Haute Route Alps in August.

The first club Sunday spins for 2015/16 on 4th October will be a very special set of spins, as this year we’re running them as a fundraiser for Keith Harte. WinterSpins will be starting up again in about 5 weeks time and therefore it is time for the annual roster of minders, leaders and dispatchers to be published as well.

Best of luck to the 25 Orwells heading off to tackle the Raid Pyrenean next Monday. With over 700km to cover in under 100 hours, over 18 cols and nearly 13,000 vertical metres!

The TTT round of the league went down to the wire this year, with only six seconds separating the top two teams after the handicaps were applied, while the hill climb championships were even tighter, Fionn Sheridan winning by less than a second from Brian McArdle.

The Youth and Junior members of the club have been extremely active and successful over the last few weeks, not least on the track! Below we cover the prolific road exploits of Ciaran Keogh, Andrew Ryan, Naoise and Uisneach Sheridan, and Conor and Sean Murnane, with the latter giving us an account of his experiences at the National Youth Championships.

With a great haul over the last couple of weeks, it’s time we covered the club’s senior open racing results for the last month or so. Diarmuid Collins’ CX win stands out, as does Jules Cantwell’s 2nd out west – he gives his account below! Envelopes also for Monica Marconi, Garry Blair, Kilian Doyle, Ken O’Neill while the Juniors are always picking up prizes regardless! We’ve also got some more of the women’s results from Aideen Keenan, Ann Horan and Emily Brick!

Since our last update from the track, the prizes and medals have been pouring in. Uisneach, Naoise and Fionn Sheridan, Seán and Conor Murnane, alongside Andrew Ryan, David Swift, Daniel McElroy, Dick O’Brien and Eddie Lynch have all been spotted on the boards. Find out how they fared below!

An excellent team performance from Orwell on Sunday saw Bryan Geary take a top ten slot in the National A3 Championships, and the club go home with the team classification. Stephen Barry, Bernard English, Mark Holand, Brian McNally, Jamie Busher, and Garry Blair all played their part alongside Geary, who takes us through the race below!

We’ll take advantage of a quiet Friday afternoon to do some catching up on the club league, going back to Conor Murnane’s sprint to victory at the club champs in Mondello, and Damien Long’s tactical masterstroke of a win on the Green Sheds.

Participants in this year’s Marmotte faced temperatures nearing 50°C, leading to many dropouts along the way. Tom Weymes shares his struggle through the day, when many others would have given up far sooner, he battled on!

Ten Orwell riders took to the start line in this year’s l’Étape du Tour. Paul O’Neill tells their story.

Previous holder of the 25TT title, Tom Blennerhassett retook it in imperious style in R15 of the club league, while Ann Horan blazed to the women’s title by nearly a minute over her nearest rival. R16 saw the lowest turnout yet for a round, with Eoin Byrne emerging triumphant in horrendous conditions.

Thanks to the Marmotte and Etape, it’s been a while since we checked in with the open racers. Since our last update, there’s been results from Bryan Geary, Sandra Telford, Scott Gilchrist, Stephen Rowan and a podium finish for Jamie Busher. Freddie Stevens is the man of the month, collecting a win, a placing, and an upgrade to A3! Details below, with a race report from Stevens himself!
