Winter Spins – Week 4

With 4 weeks under our belts we wanted to pass on some news and observations.

With 4 weeks under our belts we wanted to pass on some news and observations.

All Guests

Please note – you MUST register here to come out with us. We have been in touch with Cycling Ireland and even if you have done 3 spins you may continue to come out with us until such time as 2015 membership is open (expected first week in November). To do so though, in addition to the online form , you MUST SIGN the CI sign-on sheet which the dispatcher will have on Sunday.

All Cyclists

Please be careful in and around the environs of Joe Daly Cycles. People are not looking as they cross the road, literally in front of oncoming traffic. When you arrive please move in to the car park for the shop where there is plenty of space. Please do not block the footpaths. We are getting complaints.

Please listen for your group to be called and move over promptly. Don’t be part of a last second surge – this causes imbalances in group sizes and can leave some Yellow Groups in particular without a Leader.

Overall

We have had over 150 guests come out so far this season and although we don’t keep track of numbers I’d estimate another 150 or so current members plus all the leaders and minders. As far as we can see people are settling into their groups – chapeau to those former Oranges who have made the step up to red and former whites to Yellow – the average speeds are coming in appropriate to groups levels and weather conditions and the feedback has been broadly positive. There are always things we can improve on so please do use orwellsundayspin@gmail.com to let us know your views.

Upcoming Events

There are two upcoming events which will be mentioned elsewhere but are worth bringing to your attention here

November 9th – Gerry Brannigan Randonne

From Clonee is one the club supports through marshals and riders. There are no club spins that day as most members will be at the event. We would encourage as many as possible to participate. There will be groups leaving Joe Daly’s to get to Clonee if you’d like some company. Watch the forum.

November 10th – Club Info and Kit Night

Ballinteer Community School, 19.30 to 21.15. Need help with anything about the club, not sure about membership, wondering about how to get into racing club league, open or vets, maybe you would like to buy some kit – then this evening is for you. Again watch the forum – you can view but not post as a guest.
