First up a choice of some of the events around the country this week thanks to Cycling Ireland for sharing.

LEISURE:


Orwell Dublin-Meath-Kildare 200 Scott Orwell Wheelers promote their first self supported endurance ride on Sunday, a 200km ride taking in parts of Dublin, Meath and Kildare. There are over 100 entries for this early season challenge and a HUGE amount of work going on in the background to make it happen. Massive thanks to Ken, Leonard, Dave Mc, Colin and the Scott Orwell Audax crew for all their hard work and also to David Tansey for allowing Joe Daly Cycles to be used as a HQ for the event!

Hollymount Sportive Western Lakes CC’s Hollymount Sportif on Sunday offers two routes to choose with120km for the fit and intrepid and a 60km option catering to all levels of ability. Starting at 10am from Hollymount County Mayo, the riders head in the general direction of Tuam, Dunmore, Ballyhaunis and home.

RACING:

Dublin Wheelers Open Races The 2019 edition of the Dublin Wheelers Cycling Club’s open races roll out from the race HQ at Summerhill Community Centre, Co. Meath at 10.30am on Saturday. All three races on the card, the Mick Lally Memorial Race for A+, A1and A2 riders, the Ian Gallahar Memorial Race for A3s and the A4 race for the Willie Marks Memorial Trophy will be limited to 80 riders.

Cycleways Cup Navan Road Club begin their season of open road race promotions with the always popular Cycleways Cup races on Sunday. John Nolan and his team have prepared three separate races with rollout at five-minute intervals from the sign-on venue at Navan Adventure Sports on the Kingscourt Road from 12.30pm. The A1/A2 race will be followed by the A3 race and the A4 race. The A4 race is limited to 110 riders and riders must pre-register.

OFF ROAD

K Capital XC Series Team WORC present the first round of the three event KCapital XC Series at Kilruddery, Bray, Co Wicklow on Sunday. Fierce racing with a mass start format and a longer lap than NPS races is promised by organiser Robin Seymour.

YOUTHS:

TRACK SESSION CANCELLED – due to the heavy rain & winds forecast

The youths are off to the track this weekend! Sunday March 3rd – Sign on at 10:00 at the clubhouse. This is for all ages but track bikes are only available for ages about 9 up. Bike hire is €2.  If the very youngest bring their own bikes they can get some goes on the track and grass . Jen Sheridan and a coach from Sundrive will be running the session.

CLUB KIT:

If you ordered Club Kit in December it is now in Joe Daly Cycles. DO NOT call in on Saturdays to collect it please as it is the busiest day of the week for the shop. The shop is open Mon, Tues, Weds, Fri from 9am to 6pm and on Thursdays they are open late until 7pm.

ADVANCE NOTICE!

On Wednesday the 13th of March we will be revealing plans for the 2019 Club Leisure & Racing season ahead! The venue is The Union Cafe in Sandyford and it will start at 7.30pm. It is usually a great night and a chance to start formulating some plans for the summer. Don’t miss out!
