Valerie Plant and Michael Frain received Randonneur 10000 medals and certs and the Audax Ireland awards night on Saturday.
The Randonneur 10000 award is a prestigious ultra-distance cyclist recognition that celebrates sustained commitment, consistency, and ability to complete some of the toughest brevets in the global randonneuring calendar. It’s a lifetime achievement for many long-distance cyclists.
To earn the Randonneur 10000 distinction, you must complete the following within six years of your first qualifying rides.
Two full ACP Brevet Series (ie. 200 km, 300 km, 400 km, 600 km, and 1000 km events)
Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) 1200km event
Another 1200km+ event
One 24hr Easter Flèche event
One separate 600km event with a climbing requirement
600km with 10,000m of climbing in 60hrs (pre 2022) or
600km with 8,000m climbing in 40hrs (post 2022)
Additional ACP or LRM to make up a total of 10 000 km.
