Juniors save the weekend!

With the cancellation of the Usher GP due to snow meaning limited racing opportunities for Orwellians, it fell to the juniors to bring home the bacon this weekend. Naoise Sheridan didn’t disappoint, grabbing a second place in Corkagh Park.

With the cancellation of the Usher GP due to snow meaning limited racing opportunities for Orwellians, it fell to the juniors to bring home the bacon this weekend. Naoise Sheridan didn’t disappoint, grabbing a second place on Saturday.

Much like the Six Nations, with the big lads not showing up, it took the women to show them how things are supposed to be done. The opportunity came thanks to Derek Stenson and Jude Roche, who put on a day of racing in Corkagh Park, christened the St Patrick’s Day Festival of Youth Racing.

Two of the Orwell youth dynasties were in action – Sheridan and Kaye-Mellor, but it was Naoise Sheridan who came good to finish second in the U16 girls race, just behind Emily Birchall.

Sheridan’s placing comes hot on the heels of news that she has been selected for the Talent Team 2020 squad for this year’s Youth Tour of Scotland in April. Congratulations to her on her result on Saturday, and good luck in Scotland!
