Irish Masters Open Track Champs 2025

Three Orwell riders – Dan McElroy, Martin Holmes, and Orla Hendron – lined up yesterday at the Irish Masters Open Track Championships, proudly representing the club across multiple categories.

Racing throughout the day, Orla Hendron was first in action in the M60 category. After qualifying fastest in the 2km pursuit, she unfortunately made a tactical misstep in the final, opting to use a tri-spoke wheel in conditions that still had too much wind. This made for a very challenging ride, and though her opponent was able to repeat their strong morning performance, Orla’s effort was hampered, leaving her outside the gold.

In the M40 category, Dan McElroy produced a fantastic display of strength and tactical awareness. He rode brilliantly in the scratch race, seizing a well-earned bronze medal. Building on that confidence, Dan went two steps further in the kilo dash, powering to victory and claiming a coveted Green Masters Jersey – a huge achievement.

Meanwhile, Martin Holmes competed strongly in the M50 events, adding further to a strong showing from the club across categories.

A superb weekend of track racing, with Orwell riders once again performing at the highest level.
