The 2016 edition of the Hamper Race will take place in Corkagh Park this Sunday, 18th of December 2016. Post race refreshments and prize giving in the Green Isle Hotel afterwards.

There will be fun and games for all the family and every type of rider. Everyone is welcome – the ‘race’ in the title refer to fun events, for all the family! So bring the kids, the grandparents, the aunts and uncles, everyone! Not everyone will be on the course at any one time, so make sure to wrap up warm if the day is cold, as you may end up spectating if you’re out of the running early!

There will be an Invitational Youth Race (Orwell and other clubs) and an Orwell-only Senior race. Prizes will be awarded to the overall winner and spot prizes for the youth riders, placings, fancy dress, etc.

Damien has booked the track and the hotel. Dick has packed the hamper. You can help by donating prizes – tins of biscuits/sweets, bottles of beer/wine. Edge case denominations of liquids and foods are greatly appreciated – Non-Alcoholic, Veg*n, Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free.

So get that Laragh dust off your race kit, or ready your Snowperson costume with it’s stratospheric drag coefficient. Santa costumes and Christmas Jumpers might be enough to clinch a prize.

If participating in the Hamper Race is not your cup of tea, please come to watch or use the forum to organise a spin.

Fancy Dress winner: A Christmas Pudd-Ann
