It's that time of the year again, where we cycle to see if Turlough Hill and Wicklow Gap count as one or two hills.
The 12 Peaks is generally the last big hitout for any cyclists hoping to do a foreign sportive or raid. As such the date can be moved to suit groups training plans. It can even occur more than once, should there be more than one group trip.
Apart from cycling, it's important to nail your pacing, equipment and nutrition.
All are invited.
Everyone will be going at their own pace, and you can pick and mix the climbs you want.
If you don’t fancy the full thing, a nice way to shorten it is to lop off the second Sliabh Mann and/or Turlock Hill.
Carpooling suggested, you can't park in front of Clodagh's (side road only).
Date:
Saturday 20th of June 2026, 08:00, Rollout from Laragh.
Route and Weather:
Route: Strava // RwGPS // VeloViewer // MyWindSock.
Metrics:
113km w/3,300m
It’s two laps of Shay Eliott, Sliabh Mann, Sliabh Mann, Shay Eliott, Wicklow Gap and Turlock Hill. With a food stop in Laragh at the end of each lap.
See you then.
