Shay Elliott / Grouch’s GP / The Crotty Cup

10th - 11th May

Another busy weekend of racing saw Orwell Wheelers competing across the country with strong showings in multiple events.

Cotter Cup (C3) – Co. Clare

Matthew Lane and Josh Francis made the early trip west for the Cotter Cup in County Clare. Despite not feeling 100%, Matthew dug deep and finished 30th in the main bunch. Josh Francis continued his strong run of form, powering to 12th place and adding valuable points in the C3 standings. A solid day out for the lads.

Grouch’s GP – Co. Armagh

Meanwhile, Sean O'Kane headed north to County Armagh for the Grouch’s GP and delivered a standout performance. A well-timed attack earned him a fantastic 3rd place — a well-deserved podium after a gutsy ride.

Shay Elliott Memorial – Co. Wicklow

Sunday brought sunshine and one of the most iconic races of the Irish calendar: the Shay Elliott Memorial, hosted by Bray Wheelers. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on Sean O'Kane’s side this time — after Saturday’s heroics, he suffered a rear blowout and was forced to DNF. Joe-Nathan Mater also struggled on the day, not feeling 100% and having to cut his race short. Evan Keane made the early break and got around to finish in the bunch, with bigger tests still to come this season. Ronan finished in bunch in Ken Duffy Memorial moving well for next week 💪🏻
