Next Sunday sees the club’s first open racing event of the year, the Noel and Kieran Hammond Memorials, run as a TT for the second time in succession.

The club will be running a 32.5km TT on Saturday September 14th as the Hammond Memorial event this year. Details below…

Results from the Hammond Memorial Races in Roundwood on Sunday

It was a day to remember for Orwell Wheelers in Ballyboughal last Sunday as club members took victories in both senior races in the Hammond Memorial races, the club’s annual road race promotion.

Background: The Noel Hammond TT for A1/A2 Riders was first run in 1983, the year after Noel Died. It was run as a road race up to a few years ago when it was decided to change the format and run it as a TT due to restrictions on running road races from the Council, the Gardai & locals. The Trophy presented for the Noel Hammond TT is the Rudge Cup and dates back to the 1950's when the club regularly ran the Rudge Cup TT.The Kieran Hammond race dates back to 2003 the year after
