Hammond Memorial TT 2013 Rescheulde

28 August 2013
The club will be running a 32.5km TT on Saturday September 14th as the Hammond Memorial event this year.
As befitting a trophy which was originally awarded for a 50 mile time trial, this year the Hammond Memorial is taking shape as a rolly TT around the hills of Wicklow. This will be the route: www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/271896017 (also below).
Sign-on is in Roundwood GAA club (the usual place), from 08.30-09.15, with first rider off at 09.30.
The prize list will be finalised closer to the date, but there will be prizes for each category. We are also working with CI to have the top finishers awarded grading points, but this is still in progress.
We are aware of the clash with Rás na mBan, and the Vet track champs, but due to the crowded late-season calendar, this is the only workable date. We hope to see as many riders out there as possible!
Update: The TT will be split into A1/A2, A3, A4, Ladies and Juniors. As well as the Noel Hammond memorial trophy for the winner of the A1/A2 race, and the Kieran Hammond memorial trophy for the winner of the A3 race, prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st six overall
1st six unplaced A2s
1st six A3s
1st six A4s
1st three Juniors
1st Lady (only one prize as we expect a small turnout due to the Rás)
Unfortunately we will be able to award any grading points. The 2013 Technical Regulations state that TTs are only worth points within stage races, and there are no exceptions allowed.

Orwell Wheelers are gearing up for their big open road race promotion of the season next Sunday with the Noel and Kieran Hammond Memorial races once again set for a challenging circuit beginning at Roundwood in County Wicklow.
Always one of the most popular events on the Irish cycling calendar, the event offers competition for all senior categories. Please note that there will be no youth racing this year, so as to avoid a clash with the Arklow 2 day taking place just down the road.
Having proved popular since it's introduction three years ago, the event retains the challenging 17km circuit based on the climb of Callowhill which race director Aidan Hammond unearthed for the move back to Wicklow following many years of promotion in north county Dublin. There will be one minor change, with the finish moving from the filterbeds to a slightly more uphill location.
Full route details are available from the following Mapmyride link.
Senior races start at Roundwood GAA club and race 5 kilometres out to the circuit. After finishing their laps each race will turn back for a 2.5k dash to the finish line just off the Filterbeds.
Sign-on starts in Roundwood GAA club from 9.30am on Sunday.
There will be three races on the day:
