Leisure Cycling 2014 – Week 12
Twenty six Orwells were out on the circuits last weekend, to the South for Míle Fáilte, to the West for Tour de Burren, to the North for Swords McNally CC sportive and to the East for L’Eroica Britannia. Memories of the Wicklow 100/200
On Sunday June 8th 2014 under overcast and threatening skies 79 Orwells, 2 support crew and 1 sticky bottle began assembling from 6.30a.m. for the Wicklow 100 and 200 events – truly one of the iconic events on the leisure rider’s calendar. They aimed to complete in times from 5 hours (for the 100) to 11 hours (for the 200).

Roche GP 2014
Orwell Wheelers are once more gearing up for the promotion of Ireland’s top annual criterium, the Stephen Roche Grand Prix on Wednesday 25th June at Meadowmount, Ballinteer, Co Dublin.

Sensational Sheridan!
A weekend’s worth of racing in Roundwood paid dividends for Fionn Sheridan, taking two prizes, including the coveted Kieran Hammond trophy. Keith Harte and David Maher placed in the Roundwood GP, while several members scored results in the Hammond Memorial TT event. And last week in the league, Uisneach Sheridan, Paul Tansey and Brian Ahern won the sprints in Corkagh Park.

Taking on TKAS

Fionn’s fast finish delivers in Donegal!
The June bank holiday marks the first long weekend of the summer, and this year marked the first edition of the Deenside Cup in Kilkenny. Ciara Kinch, Aideen Keenan, Rachael Kaye-Mellor and Bryan Geary all came away with prizes, while in the north-west of the country, an Orwell contingent was ripping up Glengesh, with a star turn from newly minted sprinter Fionn Sheridan.
