The Week Ahead May 31st

After a relatively quiet week by Scott Orwell standards it is all go again this week! Racing, leisure, youths – a little something for everything

Starting with racing this week as Scott Orwell Wheelers are promoting the Quanta Orwell Stage Race on Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of June.

Saturday stage 1: 11km Time Trial. First rider is off at 10am

Saturday stage 2: evening Kermesse starting at 4pm – 10 laps of an 8km circuit. Fast and exciting racing with a testing climb on each lap!

Sunday stage 3:  4 laps of a lumpy 27km course starting at 9am from the Beehive Pub on the N11 outside Wicklow Town.

Club League:

The club league is onto round 10 already! Thursday the 6th of June will be a new course – the Summerhill Out & Back. Keep an eye on the racing thread of the forum during the week for more information on the course, sign on etc…

Women’s Racing:

The Summer League is back in Corkagh Park every Tuesday night. Racing starts at 7pm with the B race followed immediately by the A race. This is a fantastic opportunity for those new to racing to give it a go in a safe off road environment. a few weeks of this is guaranteed to improve your speed and bike handling skills!

Leisure

It’s all systems go for our Wicklow 200, 100 and 150 training groups with only one weekend left to go before the big day. Don’t forget you must have entered the event to participate on the day – get your entries at http://www.wicklow200.ie/

SOCIAL ADVANCE NOTICE:


The summer social will take place on the 9th of June in Ashtons, Clonskeagh. Come have a drink with your clubmates and discuss how the season has been going so far. Celebrate completing the Wicklow 100, 150 or 200, make plans for trips away, mull over race results and what could have been or what was!  BBQ will be available from 8.30pm – see you there!

OFF ROAD:

2019 NPS XC Round 3 Round three of the 2019 Irish XC NPS brings the series back to Ticknock, Co Dublin. There is a mix of terrain, with open and technical climbs followed by a wide variety of descents. Categories from Under 6 right though to Senior 1 Men and Women are welcome.

TRACK:

Duane Delaney Grand Prix One of the highlights of the Irish track cycling calendar, the Duane Delaney GP is an event which awards the winners trophy to the most successful rider in his or her category to honour the memory of one of Finglas Ravens’ most popular members.

AUDAX:

Eoin McLove 600 It might have a comedy name but Audax Ireland’s latest epic is a very serious bike ride with 3800m of climbing and a vast amount of Irish territory covered in the 600km from the start in Dublin. Most of the Scott Orwell PBP hopefuls will be using this event to qualify their 600km – we wish them the best of luck.

Tour of Louth

Twice voted by the members of Cycling Ireland’s as Leisure Event of the Year, the The Tour of Louth goes across the Cooley Mountains with 50km and 112km routes and that will challenge and entertain riders of all levels.

Hills Of Donegal Tour A must do event for all cyclists looking for a serious challenge, stunning scenery, tough climbs, three good food stops and a warm welcome!

Glen of Aherlow Walking & Cycling Festival Both groups start together and split after 40km with 50km and 100km options available in Tipperary on Sunday.
