The Week Ahead May 17th

A quiet week!! What’s that? Quiet by Scott Orwell standards but still something for everyone in the week ahead. The highlight of the week is the first Club Championships of the year – The Track Champs! read on for more….

It is a pretty quiet week by Scott Orwell Wheelers standards – after the week weeks we have just had it’s sometimes good to have a break! The Wicklow 100/150/200 Training Groups will be out and about again this weekend and the Leisure Challenges are live so plenty to tide us over.

YOUTHS:

Saturday : May 18th : Leinster Youth TT Championships being hosted by Lakeside Wheelers http://www.lakesidewheelers.ie/youths/youths-news/leinsteryouthjuniorttchampionships2019

Sunday 19th May : Youths spin from The Popes Cross in the Phoenix Park. Meeting at 10:00 as usual at the Popes Cross car park. It is planned to be a relaxed spin around the Park and its environs, maybe with a coffee (icecream) stop in Farmleigh.

TRACK:

The first of the Club Championships will take place on the Track this year! Sunday the 26th of May.  The format will be a 4-event Omnium with a mix of sprint, endurance and individual timed events.

Youth riders will ride separate races. If there are enough riders entered, we will split the Senior/Junior group into races based on ability so that anyone is in with a chance of placing in races and winning the overall championship. Each round will have an approximately equal number of available points and the rider (Junior, Men’s or Women’s) with the most points wins the overall.

Depending on the weather and time we will have the following events: Flying 200m TT Kilo dash 2 and 3up-up match sprints (opponents based on flying 200 times) Scratch race or h/cap race
