LEISURE:
Lets start with Leisure are we have a very special Club Spin this Sunday the 24th of March. The latest Pathways course finished last weekend after our newest members endured terrible weather for 2 weeks. This Sunday is an “Integration Spin” and a chance for people to get to know one another. All groups will meet at 9am across the road from Joe Daly Cycles and will be dispatched in mixed groups towards Maynooth. The Glen Royal Hotel is the venue for coffee where there will be a special deal for coffee/scone of €3. On the way back people can form groups of the usual colours and go faster/longer as they wish. We are looking forwards to seeing as many people there as possible.

AUDAX:
Iron Mountains 300 Audax Ireland rate Saturday’s Iron Mountains 300 as a three-star on their one to five star scale of climbing difficulty. The 300km event gets under way in Slane at 6am.
This is a self-supported event with no manned controls and no support. Lights are mandatory for this event, as for all Audax Ireland events over 200km.

VETS:
The Vets racing season official starts this weekend with the Green Sheds as the opening venue. We have a considerable number of new members from Scott Orwell this year – no we are not all getting old!! For those who dont know the circuit the sign on location is Dunsaney GAA grounds and the finish is on the wide main road just before the motorway exits. It’s a nice uphill drag to the finish but this is definitely a course to suit the sprinters. Ken O’Neill and Diarmuid Collins has been know to buck that trend in the past with some very nice long distance solo runs last year! Best of luck to everyone racing.

RACING:
Women’s Racing Workshop – this Saturday, the 23rd of March, Orla Hendron and Gillian McDarby will be running a training session in Corkagh Park for any women who might be thinking of giving racing a go. This is open to all Scott Orwell Women regardless of racing experience. Corkagh Park is a great location for learning and practicing the skills needed to race. The workshop starts at 10am and will run until about 12/1pm. Please contact Rachel McCluskey if you are thinking of attending or reply to the forum thread on the club website.
Ras Maigh Eo
This weekend sees the first of the stage races for 2019. Ras Maigh Eo is based in Westport and this year A1 racers are allowed. We have a good number of racers heading west so we wish them the best of luck and we look forward to hearing how they get on. Last year Paul Forristal was fastest in the Time Trial stage as an A4 – this year he is racing A1 but rumour is that he now has an aero helmet so can he go faster!!
