  • What it means – Yvonne values the opportunity to compete in a race of this calibre and is ready to test herself once again against the international field.

Rider No. 2 – Claire Diffely

  • Rás na mBan debut – jumping in at the deep end, this will be Claire’s first stage race, having only started bike racing earlier this year.

  • What she’s most excited about – “I’m most excited to race in a large women’s peloton, something we don’t see too much of in Irish women’s racing!”

  • Background – Claire was a competitive swimmer as a teenager and later turned to triathlon in her 20s as a competitive outlet. Over time, she found herself drawn more and more to the bike, eventually falling in love with the sport of cycling itself.

Rider No. 3 – Carmel Moran (Guest)

  • Background – Coming from triathlon, Carmel has become increasingly involved in cycling through competing in women’s leagues and racing this year with the IVCA.

  • Rás goal – To give it 100% and enjoy the experience of racing in Ireland’s premier women’s stage race.

Rider No. 4 – Rhianna Henegan (Guest)

  • Passion for cycling – Rhianna is deeply passionate about the sport and is thrilled to be part of this year’s Rás na mBan.

  • What she’s looking forward to – “Riding against strong riders, gaining valuable experience, and supporting my teammates on the road.”

  • Team role – Eager to contribute to the squad’s efforts, Rhianna is focused on both learning and giving back through teamwork.

Team Management

The squad will be managed by long-time club member Ivan O’Brien, who has extensive experience working with youth and adult riders across Ireland. Ivan previously managed Orwell teams in the Junior Tour of Ireland as well as numerous stage races nationwide. He is eager to see the team rise to the challenge of one of Europe’s toughest and most prestigious women’s races.

Support Team

Behind every successful team is a strong support crew. Orwell is fortunate to be backed by a dedicated group who will play a vital role in keeping the riders fresh, focused, and ready to race:

  • Ilie Gabuja – Team Mechanic

  • Jason O’Toole (Slaney CC) – Soigneur

  • Orla Hendron – Support

Their commitment off the bike will be key to the team’s performance on it.
