Orwell Youths One Day Stage Race 2023

Our annual One Day Youth Stage races took place on Saturday 6 May 2023 in Corkagh Park.

A huge turnout for the annual Orwell Youth stage race on Saturday (6-May). We had 85 registered from U8 to U16 and travelling from Kerry, Wexford, Sligo & N.Ireland. The three stage race started with a 1km TT for all riders, then a road race for each age group, with an elimination race to finish.  

With each stage carrying equal points, a number of races came down to the last lap of the elimination race. Emer Heverin (Kinnings Cycles) narrowly outsprinted last week’s Kanturk winner; Ysabella Huele (Orwell) to take the U14 girls overall.  Similarly in the U16’s girls top sport was decided in the final sprint with Mya Doocey (Navan Road Club) taking it from Rhiannon Dolan (Cuchulainn CC).  All three podium slots in the U14’s boys came down to the final two laps of the elimination race, with Dylan Murphy (Comeragh CC) taking the win from James Logue (Panduit Carrick Wheelers) and 3rd place Niall Mc Donald (Carlow RCC).
