First InterClub Youths Spin

Check out this video from our first youth inter-club spin on this glorious sunny morning! It really couldn’t have gone much better. We had over 20 riders aged 12 to 16 from six different clubs, spread across two 60km spins and one 40km spin, with something to suit every ability level.
Our meeting point at the Corkagh Park cycle track worked well, giving riders a chance to do a few laps and get comfortable riding together before heading out on the road. With experienced ride leaders, Orwell support cars and a motorbike marshal from Lucan CRC, the groups were in great hands throughout.
The pace was impessive too, with the longer spins averaging close to 30kph, no small achievement for riders of any age! Just as importantly, there was plenty of chat, new friendships and a popular coffee stop in Celbridge for hot chocolates and cookies.
All in all, it was a mighty day out for everyone involved, including the participants in the "Dad Spin-Off" group, who decided to make the most of their free morning, although their pace couldn't quite match that of their own kids!
We're already looking forward to next week's spin and many more to come. These inter-club youth spins are planned as a weekly fixture and new registrations are always welcome. The riders might want to make a mental note, however, that we may not always be blessed with sunshine quite like this...
