Covid – 19 Update 7th August 2020, Kildare/Laois/Offaly

Over the last number of weeks, we have all enjoyed the opportunity to resume club cycling and events within government and Cycling Ireland guidelines. Great credit is due to everyone who has adhered to the letter and spirit of the guidelines and lived by the Orwell 2 2 2 Rule. The importance of everyone registering on the Eventbrite link you were sent recently and group leaders and individuals registering participation on club training spins or events on the Cycling Ireland app has been reinforced with the developments in some parts of the country leading to the government announcements this evening.

From midnight 7th of August for a 2-week period, a number of temporary additional restrictions come into place impacting Kildare, Laois and Offaly. In addition to the Orwell 2 2 2 Rule, the training and event protocols already in place and the CI registration requirements, our club position on training and events is extended to include the following:

• No club spins can take place in counties Kildare, Laois or Offaly • While guidelines permit onward travel through these counties on route to another destination, we are asking members not to enter the counties even for a short distance on a route as this is not in the spirit of the guidelines. • No events can take place in these 3 counties e.g. Mondello Park 20th August – alternative arrangements will be communicated. • Any club member who resides in one of these counties must adhere to the local restrictions and as a result cannot take part in club activities

Thankfully we have access to great cycling routes surrounding Dublin where we are fortunate to be able to continue cycling during these summer months.

Many thanks to everyone for all your support and as soon as anything changes, we will let everyone know.
