Thanks to Peter of www.irishcycling.com and Aidan Hammond for finding and sharing this video of the Stephen Roche GP.
These are the same roads we still race on every year but the bikes and fashion have changed a bit;) There are many legends of Irish and Orwell cycling racing here - how many do you recognise?
Stage 1 of the Gorey from the same year
You can see a current-day Orwell attacking at about the 06:45 mark. A can of coke to whoever identifies the rider! :D

You're close, but I think this rider is even older than Eddie! ;)

Eddie wasnt with the club at that stage. The Orwell riders in their jerseys i can see are Dave and Mick Doyle, Robbie Lawless, Jude Roche, Tom Dillon, Paul Lee, Kevin Rynie, Peter McGuiney, Liam Keenan, Stephen Nevin. Any of these??

I see myself there 15 seconds into the SRGP video...My God not much fat and lots of hair...now it's the reverse ;-) I'm smiling as I'm oblivious to the pain to come...just about hanging on from 8:30 onward...as was my forte

No, that's not me. But my brother Joe, the one with the talent, was there in the red skinsuit. It looks like he's on top form and riding strongly but fate intervenes. A rider rolls a tub on a corner. Joe hits him and punctures, so we don't get to see a sprint.
Still, it's great to see so many faces from the past.
