What is a Calendar Audax?
This is an audax formally scheduled on the calendar in a given year.
The Ran out or Road 600 is schduled for 22nd August 2026.
-
What is a Permanent Audax?
Permanents are audax routes that may be ridden on any date, usually by individual riders or small groups. By their nature they will be unsupported, and cannot be used for PBP qualification or any other award validated by ACP. However they do count towards AI Club awards such as RRTY and provide a flexible alternative for people whose schedule makes it difficult to ride calendar events.
-
Is there a time limit?
For recognition as an audax, the 600km must be completed in 40 hours. (Riders leaving Schull early can get a dawn photo at Mizen Head and make it to Malin Head before closing time the next day.
-
How do I enter?
This well be via Eventmaster in 2026
Tourist Option
-
What is the Tourist Option?
Planned for 2026 this is a more relaxed version of the audax event
(ie. it doesnt have the audax time limit). The intent is that this is still an unsupported ride. Riders may have arranged transportation to the start or from the finish. However, having a support vehicle on the route is not in the spirit of the event.
-
Is there a time limit?
The time limit for the Tourist Option is 4 days (ie. an average 150km / day). Anyone finishing in 4 days or less will be recognised as a Tourist Finisher.
-
How do I enter?
This well be via Eventmaster in 2026

-
Why doesn't it start at Mizen Head?
Starting in Schull brings the route distance up to 600km. It also simplifies logistics. Riders can get accommodation in Schull before an early morning start.
-
How does it work?
Riders will be added to a WhatsApp group.
They must post a photo from Schull
The timestamp on this photo is their start time
They must post a photo from Mizen Head
They must post a photo from Malin Head
There are nominal controls along the way – but there is little benefit in going off route. Riders are expected to to post photos from these points so that progress can be tracked
-
How do I get to the start?
